What to include in a farm radio enquiry

A practical checklist of equipment, users and coverage needs to discuss with N3 Sales before choosing two-way radios for your operation.

Before choosing a two-way radio, describe the job you need it to do. The right conversation starts with where the crew works, what equipment is already in use and who needs to talk to whom.

List the radios you already use

Write down the manufacturer and model of each existing handheld, in-cab radio and base station. A clear photo of the model label can help. Include any antenna information you have. Two radios that look similar are not automatically configured to work together.

Describe the working area

Tell the shop whether you are connecting a yard, fields, several vehicles or separate locations. Explain where conversations currently drop out and what is between those points. Avoid choosing only by an advertised distance: give the shop enough context to discuss the equipment and installation.

Count the people and vehicles

How many people need a handheld? Which tractors, combines or trucks need an in-cab unit? Will someone answer from the shop? Note whether you want everyone on one conversation or different groups for different jobs.

Bring existing programming information

If you have documentation for your current channels, programming or operating authorization, bring it to the discussion. Ask N3 Sales what information is needed before programming or purchasing equipment. Do not assume a new radio can simply be switched on and added to an existing setup.

Make the enquiry specific

N3 Sales lists Icom handheld and mobile radios and offers programming and installation services in Rathwell. Send the shop your requirements to discuss suitable options. This checklist helps prepare that conversation; it does not select equipment or authorize radio operation.
